Staci M. Tomita utilizes exceptional analytical skills and attention to detail to provide quality service to her clients.

Practice

Ms. Tomita is a real estate litigator representing private equity funds, opportunity funds, financial institutions, property owners, developers, and property managers in a wide range of matters involving real property. A large part of Ms. Tomita’s practice involves working out defaulted loans secured by real property and litigating disputes related to leases or purchase and sale agreements. Ms. Tomita also handles matters involving, among other things, purchase options, rights of first refusal/offer, adverse possession, land use, construction, waste, forfeiture, commercial unlawful detainer, receivers, and liens, in addition to partnership and trade secret disputes.

Before joining Shumener, Odson & Oh LLP, Ms. Tomita litigated commercial disputes at DLA Piper LLP (US). She also has experience advocating for the educational rights of underprivileged youth and assisting individuals in poverty obtain governmental benefits.

Ms. Tomita earned her J.D. from the University of Southern California Gould School of Law and her B.A. from the University of California at Berkeley, with High Distinction (magna cum laude) and membership in Phi Betta Kappa.

Ms. Tomita is Immediate Past President of the Japanese American Bar Association (“JABA”), a member of JABA’s Board of Governors, Co-Chair of JABA’s Community Concerns Committee and JABA’s Families Committee, a member of the Los Angeles County Bar Association, and a former member of LACBA’s Litigation Executive Committee.
